What Is an End-of-Life Doula?
When we learn our time on Earth is ending, there are so many questions that need answers.
What paperwork do I need to do so that I'm not leaving my family with a bureaucratic mess? How do I want to spend the time I have left? What is it going to be like when I start actively dying? What do I want at my funeral? What should I leave behind for my loved ones before I go?
At the end of our lives, it's easy to feel like a number -- one of many patients being ushered through the healthcare system. End of Life (EOL) Doulas are trained, non-medical professionals that bring humanity back to the dying process. We help clients prepare for the end of their lives emotionally, spiritually, and logistically. We are an independent and complementary resource to hospice who help clients advocate for themselves, control what they can about the dying process, and find peace in their final chapter.
"Death is not the opposite of life, but an innate part of it."
