Early Grief Processing

Moving through the grief of losing someone we love is a complicated and long process. In this phase of doula work, which begins three to six weeks after death, families do the work of reprocessing the events of a loved one's passing. This includes:

• Group reprocessing

• One-on-one reprocessing

• Identifying moments of deep meaning, positives, and impressions from before and during vigil

• Education on the five stages of grief

• Referrals to bereavement resources, such as local grief support groups

​
